Boarding a subway in Berlin (Foto: Julia Weppler)

In this project, a total of six FLINT* (German acronym for Women, Lesbian, Inter, Non-Binary,Trans*) persons reflected on their experiences while traveling on the subway in Berlin. In particular, we dealt with reactions to bodily appearance, clothing as well as gendered behaviours in the public space of the underground. Experiences of lookism –discrimination based on outward appearance– but also, of homophobia, sexism and racism were part of the stories that surfaced. The conversations were recorded with an audio recorder and compiled in narrative fragments.
