Urban gardening in the library gardens Marienfelde and Tempelhof: Mini-workshop

Garden enthusiasts, listen up: Did you know that there is a garden in your local library? Discover it with us, start gardening with us and let your ideas flourish!

The first urban gardening workshop of the Encounters media workshop was originally planned for April 2020, in the library gardens Marienfelde and Tempelhof. But then the lock-down happened, and the libraries were temporarily closed. A few passionate hobby gardeners began to grow seedlings on their windowsills, balconies and patios. These plants are now going to be replanted into the library gardens – and there is definitely space for some more!

Besides planting existing seedlings and sowing new plants, we will exchange and expand our knowledge on cultivation methods and general gardening skills and plant care tips. The mini-workshop will also provide an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to reflect on garden design: what kind of community garden do we want to create? And how can we put these visions into practice? In the rose garden at the Eva-Maria-Buch-Haus in Tempelhof, we will build some first raised beds.

A mini-workshop for anybody who wants to discover community gardening and more in their library!
